Resumo
Este artigo trata da materialização da contracultura norte-americana dos anos 1960 na forma de uma série de publicações que reuniam diversas comunidades alternativas, juntamente com os objetos e as teorias que circulavam entre elas. Buscamos seguir, segundo a Teoria Ator-Rede (LATOUR, 2005; LAW, 1992), os itens mediadores considerados mais relevantes na época pelos próprios participantes. Analisamos a publicação Whole Earth Catalog e como ela articulou uma apropriação radical pelas comunidades alternativas de tecnologias de ponta, como os computadores, assim como de tecnologias ancestrais. Além disso, buscamos entender como o Whole Earth Catalog fez circular dentro e fora destas comunidades objetos, teorias e imagens sobre a terra inteira, divulgando, por exemplo, as primeiras fotografias do planeta Terra visto de fora.
