How to Cite
Abstract
This article intends to analyze how Alexander, during his final years, worked to build a personal monarchy to his new empire, and how he was, at the same time, the major cause of the consequent withdrawal of his court and traditional Macedonian structures. This discussion, therefore, focuses on the structure of the Macedonian court and its special role in the political dynamics of the Alexandrian empire, and also on the environment created within it, often marked by constant distrust between the Basileus and his circle of officers.
