Resumo

A partir de uma releitura crítica da teoria marxista de classe, desenvolve-se uma nova investigação em torno da fronteira entre classe operária e classes médias, com enfoque na identidade de classe das classes médias com relação à questão da situação estrutural de classe e da posição de classe. Neste contexto, resumimos os argumentos da abordagem de Nicos Poulantzas a respeito desse tema, de acordo com os quais todas as subcategorias básicas das classes médias pertencem à mesma classe pequeno-burguesa, e submetemos esses argumentos à crítica, defendendo a posição de que seria mais adequado ver as subcoletividades das classes médias não como partes da mesma classe, mas como classes sociais distintas: a média burguesia, a pequena burguesia tradicional e a nova pequena burguesia. Neste contexto, questionamos a maneira como Poulantzas utiliza a noção de “efeitos pertinentes”, para interpretar a situação de classe e a posição ideológica e política de classe das classes médias.
