Abstract

The book In search of the Brazilian people, by Marcelo Ridenti, contains a comprehensive and thought-provoking study on the relationship between culture and politics in Brazil in the 60s and 70s. Through rigorous research, the author seeks to understand how ideas such as those of people, nation, national identity, modernization, national liberation and the Brazilian revolution guided the practices not only of left-wing political-party organizations but of institutions and individuals linked to cultural and artistic production in the country in that period.
