Abstract

In the last three decades of the 20th century, there was a worldwide awareness of the seriousness of environmental imbalances. But this did not mean a single approach, on the contrary, a range of sometimes very divergent positions emerged. Radical ecologists, moderate ecologists, neo-Malthusians, environmentalists, etc. they reflected a different way of seeing the relationship between society and nature. However, most of them agreed that Marxism had a productivist approach, similar to that of the cornucopians (defenders of unlimited abundance and progress) that was oblivious to the needs of a more harmonious relationship with nature.
