Abstract

In July 1937, one of the main agents of the Soviet secret services in Western Europe, “Ludwik” – pseudonym of Ignace Reiss, Polish Jew, member of the Communist Party of Poland since 1919 –, decided to publicly break with Stalinist power. Encouraged by the Moscow Processes, he sent a letter of resignation to the central committee of the Communist Party of the USSR, in which he also announced his membership in Leon Trotsky's Fourth International.
