Abstract
Robert Brenner humorously recalls that "Marxists have a reputation for accurately predicting all but the last international economic crisis." The debate among Marxists about the possibility of a final crisis of capitalism (the theory of collapse, or Zusamenbruchstheorie) was very intense from the first years of the Second International and continued throughout the 20th century, although it lost much of its initial momentum in the period after the Second International. World War.
