Darwin, missing and found link to Marx's materialism

Abstract

This paper shows the strong connection between the materialistic philosophical foundations of the darwinian's theory of evolution and the historical materialism. Tort argues that Marx and Engels distanced themselves from darwinism because they overlooked the fact that it was in The Descent of Man and not in the Origin of Species where Darwin explained the evolution of mankind.
