Abstract

The Miliband-Poulantzas debate occupied the pages of the English Marxist magazine New Left Review between 1969 and 1976. This debate is essentially composed of four texts. The texts by Nicos Poulantzas: “The Problem of Capitalist State” and “The Capitalist State: a reply to Miliband and Laclau”, published, respectively, in 1969 and 1976; and Ralph Miliband’s texts: “The
Capitalist State: reply to Poulantzas” and “Poulantzas and the Capitalist State”, published, respectively, in 1970 and 1973.
