Abstract
“Old Glory” is the first essay in Evidence of Real, by Susan Willis. In it we can read: by decorating cars with flags, “we Americans [show that we know] that the war on terrorism is the code for preserving our interstate highways, our cars, our middle-class neighborhoods and the entire petrochemical network that feeds and clothes us” (p.24).
