Abstract
Mario Alighiero Manacorda's book deals with the relationship between Marxism and education. The central part of the book is the result of research carried out by Manacorda in 1960. In Brazil, it was translated and published for the first time in 1991. To clarify Marxist thinking about teaching, Manacorda starts from the philological analysis of the first texts by Marx and Engels. It concludes: there is a need to confront capitalist society in order to eliminate private property, the division of labor, exploitation and the unilaterality of man, to achieve the full development of productive forces and the recovery of unilaterality. These are the principles of Marxian pedagogy.
