Abstract

The book organized by Antônio Inácio Andrioli and Richard Fuchs addresses in a multidisciplinary way the different risks and themes associated with the development and use of transgenics. It may even scare those less familiar with the topic, but it is difficult to counter the arguments presented in it. Among the many themes and information provided by the authors, some of them will be the subject of this review, not because there is no merit in the others, but due to a pure lack of space. One of the well-explored aspects is related to the perverse and unscrupulous economic logic that ultimately aims to oligopolize the food sector. To this end, biotechnology industries launched massive business expansion in the seed sector, incorporating or purchasing seed companies around the world.
