Abstract
The current crisis is not new. In addition to the usual cyclical movement of increases and decreases in the level of production, crises also sometimes occur. Until recently, the best known was that of 1929-1932, which shook the United States and European capitalist countries, with repercussions in other areas of the world, including Brazil. The current one also assumes serious proportions. It began and worsened as a problem of insufficient demand to absorb the existing effective or potential production capacity; therefore, using a well-known designation, it could be called an “overproduction crisis”.
