Abstract
This article examines Marx’s conceptions of the role of productive forces in the development of society, like the relation between the degree of development of productive forces and the social relations of production. Affirming that these are fundamental theses
of the materialist conception and historical dialect, they question the interpretations that attribute Marx’s work with a compromise termed “technological determinism”. For the author, the grounding of these two conceptions of Marx would demonstrate that Marx’s critics do not rigorously approach the methodological principals of dialectical materialism.
