Abstract

The Brazilian companies’ expansionism, especially in Latin America, has been producing discontent manifestations with the Brazilian “imperialism” which is present in social movements, academic papers and media in Latin America. And it has called attention some resumption of Ruy Mauro Marini’s sub-imperialism “theory”, a perspective that lacks accuracy and shows difficulties both in his works and in his current return. In order to briefly discuss this issue, in the first part of the Article, Leninist imperialism perspective of the identity between monopoly capitalism and imperialism is summarized. The focus then is on Marini’s sub-imperialism nation, on which we defend that is not possible to confer to the author’s ideas a theoretical status and point some difficulties to the current recovery of his work.
