Abstract

The book organized by Milton Pinheiro, the result of the seminar commemorating the ninety years of the Russian Revolution in 2007, brings together articles on the Russian Revolution and its implications. It is knowledge of the past for action in the present and the construction of the future. As it is a collection that brings together several articles, written by authors who have different political perspectives and who are affiliated with different Marxist traditions, I think that a good way to present the book to the reader of this review is to inform them, even if minimally, about the content of each of the texts that make up the work. In the preface, Virgínia Fontes denounces the myth of the end of history and those who propagandized capitalism as the only alternative. His text highlights the relevance of Marxist concepts as well as classic Marxist authors. The author affirms the relevance of the topic of revolution and anti-capitalist struggle and, based on the Soviet experience, proposes questions to think about the transition.
