Abstract
A life of struggles is an autobiography, written in the first person (it is Renée de Carvalho who speaks) but constructed through reports to three interviewers, who were responsible for editing the text and, at one point or another in the report, express opinions or comments. The three's empathy with Renée is evident: Marly Vianna and Ramón Peña are lifelong communist activists; René Louis de Carvalho, in addition to being a militant, is the son of Renée France and Apolônio de Carvalho. The work is therefore between autobiography and “conversational biography”, of which one of the best examples is that of Fidel Castro prepared by Ignacio Ramonet (Cien hora con Fidel), which is made up of the biographee's answers to the interviewer's questions.
