Abstract
“It's time/ beginning/ Lenin's story./ Not because/ there is no more misfortune,/ it's time/ because/ a sudden sadness/ turned into pain/ clear and conscious./ It's time,/ again/ Lenin's mottos in whirlwind.” With these verses, Mayakovsky begins the book-poem finally made accessible to the Brazilian reader. It was about time. Let us understand Lenin's slogans in a whirlwind: the movement and transformation of History, the overcoming of capitalism as something necessary, not casual nor merely causal. Lenin's story as the story of the links and connections that we always need to rethink and remake because history does not move mechanically or by itself, but by human actions.
