Abstract
The article analyses the guidelines of Thompson’s criticism of Althusserian positions and points out how its cause has to be found in a profound misunderstanding of what this author was stating. The article, besides, insists on the fact that, if this misunderstanding is overcome, there is no real contradiction (apart from the question of the theoretical anti-humanism) between the positions kept by both authors and as a consequence, it is possible to make them work together.
