Abstract
Published in 2004 in Mexico and now translated into Portuguese, The State at the Center of Globalization represents an important contribution by Jaime Osorio to Latin American thought. Written in a context of great theoretical debates about international political and economic changes, Osorio polemicizes with theses about globalization and globalization, defending the centrality of the State in the contemporary world. Faced with the arguments of the State's debacle, its weakening and destructuring and the emergence of new international actors, the author affirms the permanence of the State's protagonism. At the same time, his work represents an original effort within the scope of Dependency Theory, that is, to articulate the Marxist theory of the State with the dependency approach.
