Abstract
History of the People in the Portuguese Revolution: 1974-75, by Raquel Varela, is the first attempt to transport to the Portuguese reality the new wave of studies initiated by Howard Zinn, in his A People's History of the United States, a historiography that seeks to rescue those who “have no voice”, the subalterns, normally neglected in the writing of History to the detriment of an institutionalist approach.
