Abstract
Edmundo Fernandes Dias' latest book does justice to his entire trajectory of struggle for the emancipation of subalterns and the transformation of society. A grassroots activist – as he used to define himself –, exemplary and recognized union leader, educator, in-depth specialist and student of Antonio Gramsci's thought and now retired professor-researcher from Unicamp, who died on May 3, 2013, Edmundo Dias gave us a gift , through his final book, with a reflection that is, to say the least, urgent and necessary.
