Abstract
Luiz Carlos Prestes was, without a shadow of a doubt, the most important Brazilian communist leader of the last century. Having witnessed most of the events that hit the planet in what Eric Hobsbawm called the “brief 20th century”, Prestes had not had, until now, like many of his illustrious contemporaries, biographical studies that dealt with his troubled life trajectory.
