György Lukács and criticism of the need social of religion

Abstract

The object of this research is the critique of Lukács dedicated to religion. It is our intent to reveal the main roads leading to the determination of what Lukács called religious necessity in his later works such as Aesthetics and Ontology of social being. Religion is regarded by Lukács as an objectification of the human being, which requires certain material conditions for their existence, restricted to the pre-history of social being, inextricably linked to societies with antagonistic classes. One rejects therefore the attempts to project an extensive universality to religion. The idea of this exegesis is to find the elements that drive the ontological critique of Lukács to religion, dismissing the criticism of a merely epistemological nature.
