“Journey into the heart of darkness” of capitalism

Abstract

As a commentary of the French publication of collected articles of Robert Kurz, the present text makes an account of his work in general, concentrating itself on his main ideas and most recently published books. The economic crisis initiated in 2008 was seen by Kurz as the confirmation of his diagnosis of the inevitability of crisis in capitalism, for which the left, both the traditional and the recent contestation movements, has no real solution, i.e. a solution that actually overcomes capitalism in its social conditions. From this point, the text goes to other related dimensions of Kurz’s thought, as the theory of value and the relationship between History and the logic of conceptual exposition in the work of Marx, finally coming back to the actual crisis in its aspect of money crisis as inseparable from the form of capital.
