Marx and Engels as scholars of relationships international in XIX century

Abstract

In this text we report the intellectual production of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels devoted to the themes of international life through their journalistic correspondence. We disagree with those who deny the existence of an autonomous Marxian-Engelsian reflection on the subject, who shows that they do not know, or at least disregard, this part of the work of the two German authors. This is the clear case of Kernig, Aron, Bobbio, Kubálková and Cruishank. We align ourselves with authors such as Salomon Bloom, Kostas Papaioannou and Miklós Molnár, who admit and rescue this production, looking at the large collection of international articles published by the two friends on newspapers’ pages, especially on the New York Daily Tribune. Precisely on these pages Marx and Engels played, over more than a decade, the hole of analysts of international relations.
