Abstract

The book brings together the results of the collective research program Globalgender, funded by two public research institutions in France, between 2013 and 2016. Translation of gender, in English, and genre, in French, the concept forged in American academic and feminist circles of the late 1960s gradually replaced the terminology “women”. From the 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing (1995), the term gender became established as a new central terminology in international policy programs with an egalitarian nature – gender mainstreaming.
