Abstract

The reissue of the book What is Liberation Christianity? Religion and politics in Latin America came at a good time, because it is once again available to readers in the midst of an unprecedented social, political and economic crisis in Brazil after the 2016 political coup. Crisis also in practically all of Latin America, which, After a wave of so-called progressive governments, it has gone through a moment of reversal of the ideals of Latin American autonomy and integration and, consequently, also a return to submission to the dictates of neoliberal imperialist capitalism. The book, in short, deals with the rebellious spirit and how the memory and actuality of this rebellion, translated into liberating experiences, are fundamental for us to think about the possibilities of transformation.
