Abstract

The result of a seminar organized in 2015 by Marxist study groups, the book coordinated by Jair Pinheiro brings great difficulty to the reviewer due to the scope of the themes and approaches. It is a collection, with ten chapters, classified into four parts entitled “Dialogues”, “Politics and ideology”, “On materialist dialectics” and “Theory and methods”. We will limit ourselves to the approach of part of them, which we consider to be of greater scope and impact. However, we recommend every line of this book, because it leaves no doubt about its quality and reaffirms, in practice, that Althusserian thought also took shape in Brazil and managed to recover the scientific content of Marxism after the reflux it suffered in the 1950s, with the rise of the humanist philosophical conception and its mostly normative content.
