Abstract

The article seeks to identify the convergences and divergences between queer, materialist and marxist theories. It proposes, from these theoretical dialogues, an agenda of a “queer marxism”. The author makes a comparison between the conceptions of materialism and history in Judith Butler and Marx and argues that Butler allows queer theory to open a dialogue with neoliberalism and its economy in its analyses. Through the analysis of the recent works of marxists such as Kevin Floyd, Alan Sears, Peter Drucker and Rosemary Hennessy, and queer theorists Roderick Ferguson, Lisa Duggan and Michael Warner, the author proposes a queer’s elaboration of marxism and a marxist elaboration of queer theories.
