Theory, politics and history: a debate with E. P. Thompson

Abstract

Perry Anderson is one of the most important figures on the left today. Having been at the helm of the New Left Review for more than two decades, his influence as a Marxist critic and as an editor is undeniable. The book Theory,
politics and history brings together the two sides of his theoretical-political performance.
Firstly, it is a response to the book Misery of Theory or a Planetarium of Errors (a critique of Althusser's thought), by E. P. Thompson. It is a kind of “criticism of criticism” from Thompson to Althusser.
