Abstract

Marta Harnecker, born in 1937 in Chile, was a psychologist, sociologist, activist and popular educator, who passed away at the age of 82, on June 15, 2019. She wrote more than 80 books, including The elementary concepts of historical materialism, published in Spanish in 1968 and then in several countries, arriving in Brazil in 1973. This book was the result of his theoretical deepening under the guidance of the French philosopher Louis Althusser.
