Abstract

The book Political Economy for Workers, written by Sofia Manzano and published by Instituto Caio Prado Jr. in a new revised and expanded edition, is an introduction to the study of the contemporary capitalist economy. Based on the Marxist theoretical framework, the author introduces readers to the universe of economic concepts and the scope of Political Economy through didactic writing, accessible to university students, workers and political activists. This is, beforehand, one of the qualities of the book and one of the merits of the author, whose language distances itself from approaches that make it difficult to understand the economy, without incurring simplifications.
