Abstract
Money, merchandise and the State at the origins of modern society is the result of historical research by Pedro Rocha de Oliveira, professor at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Unirio). The book seeks to understand the mechanisms of expropriation, commodification and concentration of power at the origins of the capitalist system, identified by the author in England from the end of the 15th century to the beginning of the 17th.
