Abstract

In order to trace the origins and the sense of José Carlos Mariátegui’s Marxism, the author works with the hypothesis of an “alternative rationality” through the epistemological, ethical and political criticism of Eurocentrism. That is to say, since his return to Peru, according to the author, Mariátegui inaugurates an autonomous proposal of knowledge, inspired by the notion of myth in Sorel, against both the European social democracy and the so-called Marxism-Leninism, especially the one that took concrete form since the mid-1920s
