Abstract
The book Uberization, digital work and Industry 4.0, organized by Ricardo Antunes, consists of a collective project of theoretical-empirical analysis of the consequences of technological development, especially the so-called Industry 4.0, on productive and labor relations, a debate that has historically been a topic of important divergences in the Sociology of Work. On the one hand, authors such as André Gorz defend the thesis that the development of productive forces driven by capital can implode its process of self-valorization. On the other hand, readings such as that of Harry Braverman argue that technological development has a tendency to degrade work. The book reviewed here is an update to this debate, bringing it to understand contemporary societal transformations.
