Abstract

The debacle of socialism in 1989 opened the doors to a new historical moment. Euphoric, imperialism decreed the “end of history” and the eternity of capitalism. Thirty years later, we see the contradictions intrinsic to capitalism become more acute: wars, economic crises, environmental devastation, destruction of social and labor rights, high unemployment rates, precariousness, hunger, barbarism, obscurantism, worsening imperialist domination, etc.
