Abstract
Hobsbawm, in an intelligent and provocative book, sought to demonstrate that the drama of Europe consisted of the conjunction (or tradition) of revolutionary intellectuals and a society that repels revolution. During the reading I felt the historian, who had lived post-Bolshevism, subtly dealing with intimate convictions and the justification of the Soviet Union's mistakes in the party's internal issues, within its borders, and in the international policy of concessions to the "cold war".
