Resumo
Adela Breton foi uma artista viajante britânica que registrou ruínas mesoamericanas durante suas viagens pelo México no início do século 20. Suas pinturas arqueológicas do Templo dos Jaguares em Chichén Itzá constituem o foco desta pesquisa e são analisadas a partir das apropriações das noções de pitoresco na produção científica tendo como referência os estudos arqueológicos no contexto britânico. Esses registros detalhados de Breton são algumas das poucas imagens desses monumentos maias que hoje estão em vias de desaparecer.
