Resumo
O objeto norteador da pesquisa é o Grifo de Pisa, estátua de bronze, datada dos séculos XI – XII, em formato de um grifo, ser mítico com corpo de leão e face e asas de ave, que adornou o telhado da Catedral de Pisa até 1828. A presença e chegada deste objeto em Pisa ainda são tópicos inconclusivos, fazendo com que a estátua se torne um demonstrativo de como os artigos zoomórficos feitos em metal, há muito tempo produzidos por regiões de cultura islâmica, se tornaram populares na região Mediterrânea no período. Para isso, será adotada uma metodologia que coloque a História da Arte Medieval sob uma perspectiva globalizada, levando em consideração a conexão de espaços distintos e o questionamento das fronteiras físicas, religiosas e políticas, na possibilidade de pensar esses objetos a partir de uma cultura compartilhada.
